This grand, sporty, and technical canyon is located at the foot of Ariège’s "3000ers": Montcalm (3,077m) and Pique d’Estat (3,143m), at the end of the Vicdessos Valley. It is a canyon that is deeply incised, more vertical, and wilder than its neighbor, Artigue. Less aquatic and more technical... and what an atmosphere! Ideal for improving your canyoning skills and rappelling techniques.

Description

Subra Canyon

The Subra Canyon offers a beautiful sequence of 25 waterfalls. Mineral and open in its upper section, the gorge is carved into beautiful red schist rock. This canyon ends with two magnificent, deeply incised, and aerial sections (the last 8 waterfalls). The most beautiful and highest obstacles are found at the end of the route, including a guided 25m rappel followed by a stunning 20m waterfall that you descend behind the water curtain into a cave. It is rarely visited, so you’ll have peace and quiet to learn canyoning as a team and perfect your rope autonomy.

A sporty canyon descent for all those who love thrills, learning technique and autonomy in canyoning.

Equipment to provide

Swimsuit (avoid shorts) and change of clothes. Picnic lunch + water
Optional: Shorts for the approach hike (if needed), Glasses strap, Hair tie (for long hair)
